Election Results

Below is the email sent to Courtney Bohlender, HOA Board liaison between the Computer Club and the Lapidary/Silversmith Club regarding the results of the club vote.

I am writing to you on behalf of the SVE Computer Club regarding the recent request to share our dedicated room with the Lapidary Club. After careful consideration and a formal vote, our club members have decided not to share the space. I would like to outline the reasons behind this decision for your understanding.

1. Expansion Plans: The SVE Computer Club is in the process of expanding its focus to include a broad range of technological activities and education. Our future plans encompass areas such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, home automation, and security camera systems. This expansion will require significant space and resources to accommodate the various technologies and equipment.

2. Environmental Concerns: The nature of the activities conducted by the Lapidary Club involves handling and processing stones, which generates dust and debris. Our current and future technological equipment is highly sensitive to such contaminants. The presence of dust and debris poses a serious risk of damage to our computers, electronic devices, and other equipment. This risk is compounded by the fact that many of our members' personal devices are also used within the club space.

3. Dedicated Use and Security: Our club members rely on the dedicated space for consistent access to equipment and resources. Sharing the room would not only limit our access but also raise concerns about the security of our equipment. Many of our projects require continuity and stable environments, which could be compromised by shared use.

We understand the need for all clubs to have adequate space and support within our community, and we appreciate the efforts of the HOA Board to facilitate this. However, we believe that sharing our dedicated room with the Lapidary Club is not a viable solution given the aforementioned concerns.

We are open to discussing alternative solutions that could accommodate the needs of both clubs without compromising the integrity and future plans of the SVE Computer Club. We appreciate your understanding and support in this matter.

Thank you for your attention to this important issue. We look forward to working together to find a solution that benefits the entire Sunland Village East community.

Sincerely,

Gary Nault
