Attended Medical Technology School in Minneapolis, Minn. Interned for one year at St. John’s Hospital in Red Wing, Minn.
Graduated from California Lutheran University with a B.S. degree with honors in Biology.
Spent 40 years in the Medical Field. Supervisor of Hematology at Los Robles Regional Medical Center, but also worked in all the departments: Blood Bank, Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology and Parasitology. I taught the Medical Technology students in my dept. in their internship and preparation for their State Boards. My favorite task was screening bone marrows for cancer cells.
I taught Hematology at California Lutheran University for 2 years and also helped with the Medical Technology laboratory classes for Microbiology, Clinical Chemistry and Blood Banking for 4 years.
While working full time, I also volunteered as an Ombudsman for a nursing home for 3 years. My extra curricular fun things were camping, bridge, golfing, tennis and political activist, starting a home owner’s association and then an associated home association for our community. We won a referendum that overturned a detrimental zoning change back to it’s original zoning.
I was married for 49 years, widowed last year, raising 3 children: Michael, Patricia and Maureen. I have 7 grandchildren and one great grandson. Since retiring I have volunteered at Irving School for 5 yrs., helping to develop a program for slow readers and one year at Boulder Creek School.
My hobbies are; Bridge, Line-dancing, computers and sewing.
